Dr. Shilpa Ghosh

25 years is a long time to be doing anything, and Dr. Shilpa Ghosh has spent all of it in gynecology and obstetrics. She currently practices at Aakash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital, Delhi, and honestly, high-risk pregnancies are where she really shines. Most obstetricians can handle a normal delivery fine — but the tricky, unpredictable cases need someone who’s seen a lot more, and that’s usually who ends up in her clinic. She also does minimally invasive gynecological surgery, robotic procedures included, so it’s not just deliveries she’s known for.

She finished an FOGSI-approved laparoscopy course pretty early on, back when a lot of gynecologists were still sticking to open surgery methods. Says something about how she thinks. In 2012 she went to the University of Louisville, Kentucky for a diploma in gynecological endoscopy and laparoscopy, and on top of that, she’s trained specifically in robotic surgery too. Awards-wise, she picked up the Pradeep Srivastava Award for topping her final MBBS year in gynecology and obstetrics, plus the APJ Abdul Kalam Award from the Delhi Gynecologists Forum later on. She’s chaired sessions at various medical conferences and been invited to speak at quite a few over the years.
